I make film posters.

My design journey began at agencies Empire Design and AllCity before setting up Sam Ashby Studio in 2008 with a focus on independent and arthouse films.

The studio was on hiatus from 2020 to 2023, while I helped to build an award-winning poster department at Intermission Film as Creative Director of Print.

I have recently returned to my solo practice, offering key art design, freelance art direction, and design consultancy.

My love for film extends beyond creating posters; I'm also a filmmaker. Additionally, I edit, design and publish Little Joe, a queer film journal that celebrates the diverse narratives within cinema.
